Hi All

Hope you're all coping with the Novo and other viruses and ailments doing the rounds at the moment.

After 2 weeks off work unable to use my arms or hands due to inflammation, I'm back at work and sewing again and have finished another 3 Satchels. Two are for Christmas present orders so I'll hold off posting photos until they have been received but here is the third which is for sale.....I called this quite simply,
                                                         'Rosebuds are Red'.

FOR SALE

Must focus on Christmas now and get start to sort out the tree.....Hope you all get what you wish for...

Hi All
Here are some photos of the 'Beast' quilt I made. It was 16 months in the making (6 months of planning with customer and 10 months in making, with the help of a friend who quilted it for me)

It was an order for a larger than King-sized quilt and finished off measuring 116" x 116".
Due to it's size, I made it in 6 pieces and then joined these (after my friend quilted each piece, fabulously) with sashing and bound it in black fabric.
This is the top of the quilt minus borders -

This is the back of quilted top

This is the quilt with borders and binding attached - displayed on my ironing board as it was too big for my double bed. Shows a bottom corner block and Adrinka symbol 'Sanctity - wards off evil spirits' used as fillers....

And finally - ready for delivery complete with washing and care instructions.....

T'was a long job but worth it in the end as the customer got exactly what he wanted and loves it!

Hi All
Congratulations to Sophie on your lovely news....YAY! and Happy Birthday to Mason on his first birthday......Go Mason......; and finally to Kerstin and family, Congratulations on the birth of your new grandson Tristan...he's beautiful. Love and hugs to all!!!!

I've been busy with satchel orders and have completed 3 more recently. One has gone to a buyer but is still in postal system so I can't post that yet . When D receives it I will post a photo. I loved D's satchel myself.....but can't do a copy as that's something I don't do!!!! I do have the same design of fabric but in reverse colourways so I may end up doing myself one in that......eventually............

The second is also an order and won't post photo until the buyer has received it, and the third is a lovely Mannequin fabric which I can post here as it is one I had cut but do not as yet have a buyer for......leave a message if you are interested. The satchel is the Medium size, larger than the Small one, of which I have several orders.
Here is the Mannequin - Sizes are W 14" x H 12" x D 5"

                                                               FOR SALE!

They're one-offs so please don't request one in the same fabric, when this goes....it's gone. face 23

Last week I worked on another Satchel and this is the end result - I've received several orders since postings photos of the ones I've made which is great.

FOR SALE!                                           NOW SOLD
Here's the photos of the side view -

And the front view -

Each satchel is different fabric for the main body to make each one unique so NO 2 alike!!!  I've cut the patterns for 3 sizes and organised the process of making the bags, so I'm ready!!!!!!
If anyone is interested please leave a message and we'll discuss a price but I do have several orders at the moment.

Other than that, I've been ill for the past few days and have an ulcerated/very sore throat. The Doctor and I think it's to do with a change to my Asthma meds so not feeling too good at the moment.
It helps having pretty bags on the wall to look at but the Birds satchel is going to fly up to my grandaughter this week so I'll have to do with the photos hahahaha!
Me! Obsessed! .....a little maybe but it is beautiful fabric.

Here is a photo of the bags I talked about in the last posting....

The birds bag is for my 8 year old grandaughter who is a keen birdwatcher, the Monet style is for a friend who's been a great help to me over the past months while my shoulder has been bad, and the Pink Roses bag left my hand as soon as I took it out of the carrier bag at work, as a workmate loved it so it sold straight away. The green bag is my elder grandaughter's for her 16th birthday.
It's early days in the planning, patterns and making of these bags. More have been prepared ready for piecing and others are planned so we'll see where it takes me.....as long as I enjoy doing it.

Hi All
Hope all are well everywhere......x
I haven't been doing much quilting of late as dealing with shoulder pain and limitation of movement for several months now. Had a course of Acupuncture which started to help but was only allowed 4 sessions so have been in increasing pain since that finished 2 weeks ago. I'm waiting for referral to a Pain Clinic to see if that will help further but will have to wait for a place I'm told.

In the meantime, I've been doing smaller projects in short bursts when I've been able to and I've completed bags for myself, grandaughters and one for a friend.

I made and entered the first into a bag competition on my online quilting group and won! YAY! And my GD (aged 16 yrs)loves it.

Apart from the bags I've been doing smaller presents for friends but will have to wait to post photos as they haven't received them yet.

Take care all..............

Since last time.....

I've had a bad few months pain due to Tendinopathy in right shoulder and upper arm which has impeded my mobility a lot, hence I've focussed on smaller projects during this time. Started Acupuncture today (and over next 5 weeks) so I'm hoping it frees me arm up so I can get back to the grind as it where.... loads to do!
I have a quilt to do for a special little boy in the family and a heap of other pressing projects to do! Hope you are all well wherever you are....

So what's been happening.....well!
I had my two middle grandchildren to stay with me over Easter, so to limit their electronic game use, I challenged them to do a free-hand drawing which I then printed onto fabric. They made their artwork into cushions which they used on the long journey home. They are very proud of their cushions, as I am of them. Here's the munchkins with their cushions. The photos have now been printed in this month's Patchwork & Quilting magazine, so they are famous too!

Quilting I've been busy with...

Hi All
It's been a busy time here for me with work and quilting. I'm still working on the quilt for my work mate which is partially finished....as it is such a huge quilt, I've made the top and I'm now making 3 x side panels which are well on the way. Due to problems with my right shoulder, the top was quilted by a friend who is a genius on a short-arm sewing machine. As it is so big, her daughter (my other mate) has christened this quilt the "chuffin big beast" but it's looking brilliant and I know the owner will love it as much as I do, but due to privacy request, neither I nor my friends can post photos of this quilt at this time....though this may change when he sees it. He said he was going to take people on a tour of the bedroom because he expects it to be  a masterpiece....I just think he's trying to recoup the money it's costing him hahahaha!

What I can do though is show you the quilted UFO I'd started on a very useless, cheapish machine about 10 years ago for my grandaughter. The stitching/tension was a nightmare so I flung it at the back of a cupboard (the quilt not the machine, though I did get a push to buy a decent one) but then I had an idea!!!!! What if I let my mate loose on it to weave her magic into it? It was worth a chance as it seemed a shame to throw it away and I'm so glad I did! Now the quilt is on my youngest grandaughter's bed and is gorgeous.
Here is a photo -
Lots of v'ing and hearts and flowers in the quilting by Jan has made this perfect for Eden's bedroom so thanks Jan.

I'm on a roll now so just an update on other stuff...
I've finally made the decision to join my online patchwork group's 2012 UnFinishedObjects Zapping! challenge as I am guilty of starting projects then not completing them. I am getting some assistance from my fab quilter mate Jan who does prize-worthy quilting patterns on a much-loved short-arm Bernina machine. Together these two producing amazing work and I am really happy to trust my quilts to her skills as health issues have prevented me from doing my own quilting for the past few months. Go have a look at Jan's blog to see the gorgeous work she has done for many years and continues to do.
http://www.jansmusing.blogspot.com/

I've also joined the 2012 Postcard swap as I love the postcards for my collection and have made some for friends and a really lovely Postcard storage box  - - - - - -

and a diary cover too....

...and I've joined the 2012 Birthday club too so lots of gifts going to be passed around this year YAY!
As a tight group, we responded to some upsetting news of a fellow quilter J, by making pink and white/cream blocks for another member Rosemary to put together into quilts for sale to raise money for Breast Cancer Charity. These will be raffled over the next few months to raise much needed money for research to help to stamp out cancer.
Will post some photos when I have more time but still lots of work ongoing with I hope, some finished objects to boot.....out of my UFO stack.

Hi All
Time is flying by too quickly. I can't believe I haven't had time to post since late November 2011 but I've been so busy - but I'm here now so here goes....
I'm still working on the huge quilt for a work friend but hope to have the main body of it off to my quilter in the next couple of weeks while I get on with the very ambitious panels for the sides and bottom to attach later.
In the past couple of months my quilter has done me proud with the Space quilt for Jet having rockets and stars in the quilting and the Dinosaur quilt for Brennan has dinosaurs in the quilting design......genius. The quilting on these can be found at http://www.jansmusing.blogspot.com/
Thanks Jan!

Mmmm and what have I done apart from taking photos of the finished Space and Dinosaur before I gave them to happy kidz?....I made a buggy quilt called Cats and Dogs! for Eden and well! she loved the cats hiding place but the fleece foot muff on the back....not so much! and well, that's a whole other posting but I vermicelli quilted it myself and did a good job so as they say, 'practice makes perfect....or in this case...nearly perfect'.
Here it is -
And here are the cats - all present and accounted for. From the left is Jade cat; Mistigris and the Mouse, and finally Gatchelou the Fisherman. Peeping out from their hidey pocket on the top back of the quilt.

Dinosaur quilt for B which is quilted with dinosaurs and stars (courtesyof Jan) but silly me, I forgot to photograph these two when finished as I was off on holiday. They were both really lovely! These are pre-quilting pics -

And for J, a Space quilt which has rockets and stars in the quilting pattern - all done free-hand (no pre-programmed stitches here guys!) and amazing....and she opens to orders from quilters.
As I said, go to Jan's blog to see great quilting on these last 2 quilts.
