Bringing in the New Year...

Hi All
Here we are in 2015 and it's sadly been a memorable year already. I hope those who need hugs will feel better for the virtual ones I'm sending you.

Since posting last, I have started my own home-based Business -

MarianTurner~CraftyLady.

My website can be found at  -
http://marianturnercraftylady.co.uk/ where you'll find what I've been up to for the past year or so.

I've ventured into writing Craft Tutorial eBooks and now have two eBooks on Amazon.co.uk, my first being uploaded in early June 2014.

In each of my eBooks, I offer after-sales email support so you can contact me for guidance if you need assistance. To date, no-one has needed any support, though many individual Satchels have been made by customers from my Tutorial eBook. My ebooks have loads of photographic step-by-step stages for making your own Satchel, to create a visual guide to the process.

My first eBook came from my designing and making One-Off!Satchels from which I have written  'How to Make Your Own Fabric Satchel'. The book takes you from the beginning of making your own patterns to completion of a beautiful Satchel/s in your own choice of fabrics.

To see samples of Satchels I've made drop into my new website as above.

My second eBook 'How to Make A Fun Applique Wallhanging'

was uploaded to Amazon in late October 2014.

Both eBooks have received great Reviews in Popular Patchwork Magazine, the magazine online group I have been a member of since 2008.

I am at present in the middle of a special project and eBook 3 which I hope to upload in the next couple of months. I've had a busy, busy time but I'm enjoying every minute....

My eBooks can be found on Amazon here - copy and paste into browser

http://www.amazon.co.uk/HOW-MAKE-YOUR-FABRIC-SATCHEL-ebook/dp/B00KPXDL94/ref=zg_bs_362171031_15

OR just type in the title/s or my name into Amazon.co.uk and the site will take you there.

Wishing you All a Happy and Healthy New Year for 2015.

Hi All

Today I've spent a lot of my day working on my new Website, finding my way around it. The web Tutorials have opened up more options for me now and in time I'm sure I'll be happy with it. I've managed to set up two slideshows - my Underground Railroad blocks (at present a UFO) and photos of 40 One-Off!satchels I made before I recently wrote my Tutorial ebook. The Satchel I made for the Tutorial ebook is not revealed on the new site....for a good reason.....

Good health wishes to our Ken and Bren - thinking about you both and sending positive thoughts to you both. Get well soon!

To all who need some positive virtual support, I'm sending a bucket-load. Use it wisely and recover quickly...

For now, it's back to the sister website to develop it more...

Hi All
It's been a long time and a busy few months since I posted last but I have a good reason for slacking on posting here. The reason is I've been going down an alternative pathway regarding employment ... I've been working toward setting up my own Business - 'MarianTurnerCraftyLady' combining craft-making and writing and have enjoyed doing it.

My first eBook was published on Amazon two days ago -
'How to Make Your Own Fabric Satchel' by Marian Turner.

My eBook has sold well in the first 2 days so I'm a happy bunny.
It is a Tutorial eBook with detailed instructions supported by 147 images to guide people through the process of making their own Fabric Satchel.

I'm in the process of setting up a new website too so it's still a bit crazy dealing with all that goes with that......

Hope all are well - but for those who I know are going through a rough time, I hope you will be back to good health soon.

Hi All
Woohoo...... I received my quilt back from Jan the other day after she'd worked her magic on it.... and I love it! It's perfect for the recipient. Just got to do the binding then can post some photos.

I'm amazed at how Jan knows just what to do on the quilts she does for people. With just a few words about the recipient, Jan instinctively is able to translate a design that is perfect, and beautiful. I think Jan studies the quilt top before deciding on a theme then when she is sure, the magic happens. I have now renamed her - Jan - The Quilt Whisperer.....

While I was in the flow, I brought out another UFO and sorted that and it has now gone off to Jan today. It is a quilt top that has been in my Ottoman for a few years waiting for a border so I got to it and I'm so pleased with how it looks. Can't wait to see Jan's magic quilted into it...exciting...

Spring weather is on the way (albeit in 'fits and starts') but after several weeks of decluttering, I'm in the mood now to get some more of my UFO's out and with Jan's help, make them into loved quilts so watch this space for photos....

Besides some quilt tops, I also have 3 lots of quilt blocks to put together - My Dad's Poppy Memory quilt, my Birthday Japanese Dolls quilt, and my Underground Railroad quilt blocks. I have a specific plan in mind for the Underground Railroad quilt but not sure how to implement it so need to put my thinking cap on - or ask quilty friends for advice on how to accomplish this.

Whatever I decide, I will be use QAYG method for these as that will be more manageable for me.

Hope you are feeling better by the day....

Hi All,

I’m so excited….I sent one of my UFO’s to Jan and she has already worked her magic on it. I’ll be getting it back after the weekend and will post a photo or several soon. I know I’m repeating myself about the skills Jan has in FMQing but I know my quilts are in the best hands when she has worked on them so I’ll be posting another quilt to Jan a.s.a.p. before she builds up another queue of customers’ quilts.

Due to a health difficulty, I can’t do my own quilting so I’m thankful for Jan and her talent. Anyone who hasn’t seen Jan’s amazing work can see it on her website – http://jansmusingagain.wordpress.com/

I’ve been busy with a new venture too but more on that later as I’m still in the planning stage.

Hope you are well, or feeling much better than of late!

Take care and stay warm.

Hi All

Wow! doesn't time fly when you're busy. I thought I'd have achieved much more by now but no.......

I can't believe how quick the weeks are rushing by but I have been very busy with my 'secret' project...... spent weeks working on it so far and it has taken all my spare time but I'd say I'm more than half way there now.... Yay!

K is doing okay which is a relief but still a way to go yet. I hope all of you are feeling much better now.

Shamefully, I still haven't finished Jet's curtain but I think it's going to be one big 'flurry' of activity at the last minute before I see her next.

The weather here has been quite mild, almost like Spring days this past week but we know how quick that can change. Stay dry, warm and safe.....

I've got 2 box projects to do - no stitching involved with them but I know I'm going to be distracted by them so should really put them out of sight. There just isn't enough hours during the day.

Hi All
Today is calmer weather with just a hint of sunshine, though it is cold. Unlike others, I am  safe from the flooding as I live in a first floor flat but it was awful looking at the news on TV last night with the devastation in the UK. So many people unable to live in their homes due to flooding or damage... And on top of that, the threat to their health because there are now so many dangerous bacteria in their homes too due to the contaminated water. I hope these people can be safely back home soon.

It's been a busy week for me with one thing and another but no finished projects yet but I have prepared the 2 March birthdays for PP, ready to post. I have also produced some stock Hug Hearts to send to K. I have spent most of my time working on my 'secret project' which is coming on nicely....

The lovely Hug Hearts I received when I was having a particularly uncomfortable time after falling down the stairs were a boost as I was feeling miserable....it has taken over 3 months but as I only have twinges now and then, I consider that to be healed.
These are my lovely Hug Hearts from PP'ers-

I still have to put them together so at the moment they are in my To Do List.

I hope you are all dry and warm and those of you who are going through your 'own health problems', I hope you are all comfortable and improving...
