Catching up with you all....

Hi All
To those of you who are below par for whatever reasons, I'm sending out virtual hugs to you, and 'feel better soon' wishes too!

I'm still working on the quilt for my work colleague but progress is very slow as I'm suffering from a fibromyalgia flare-up and boy! the pain in my arms is severe, so much so that simple tasks like just picking up a hot kettle is proving difficult and painful. I know it'll get better if I pace myself and rest so that's exactly what I'm going to have to do. I've been doing smaller (less taxing on my arms) projects in between so after completing machine applique on 4 blocks for above quilt, I managed to put the binding on my Rennie Macintosh wallhanging yesterday. I loved this when I saw it and with a gift from a quilty friend, I've completed the wallhanging for me! YES ME! hahaha...eyes off!  For those of you who know me well, you'll know that I never usually keep what I make but this was for me from the start so it's going in my hall...or bedroom...or lounge...well somewhere because I love it.
And here it is -

Thanks Tessa x

Mini-break away!

Hi All
We're back from our mini holiday to K's in Suffolk - had a great time. All quilty deliveries for Eden have been made. She loves her Red Ellie-phant of course (favourite colour) as well as her blue Ollie-phant, and her Harriet Hare or her 'rabbit'. The curtains look really lovely in her room -
Bunting looks lovely too............

Jet really like the curtains so I've got an order for a sky/garden with trees/flowers/butterflies  and ladybird bugs (buttons) like Eden's, and Brennan wants the TARDIS and Planets for his 'quilt' curtains...mmm that's me busy for a long time to come....
Also -
managed to complete 3 x Advent calendar kits to take with me, which they love and are looking forward to using them.....

Got lovely fabrics for my birthday off my family and of course, just had to pick up some 'rainy day' ½ metres, as well as fabrics for a cot quilt for a new baby boy in the family. My family are calling me a fabric addict now....what took them so long to realise!!!!!! hahaha

A gift for Eden

Hi All
Here's the first of the toys, an 'Effiephant' for 3 year old Eden's bedroom. It has a pal called 'Olliephant' which will be done when I have a minute...or longer hahaha! This is the first time I've made one of these so used fabric I had in but will have to make a red one because she said, "Red is her most favouritist colour in the whole of the world."

Hen n chick wallhanging

Hi All
And here we are in Autumn. It's been really cold in the evenings in Essex this past week and rain, rain and more rain.
I had a great time at NEC so have booked my room again for next year ahead of any potential prices 'hikes' due to the 2012 Olympics.
I got an order from my 3 year old grandaughter for several calico animals for her new bedroom so I'm busy with the first Hare which is a bit bigger than planned but she'll love it! In the meantime, I've completed a small wallhanging for a friend so I thought I'd put it up here while I'm having a sewing break....
It just needs 'steaming' and it's good to go! I'm pleased with it as I just had a picture to work with and my daughter wants one similar so the next one will be much quicker.

Hope all are well around the globe.......

Gift for a friend, made from a gift from another friend.....

Hi All
Here is the latest smaller project I've made, a gift for a friend in her favourite colours, and she loves it!

The pattern is part of a range bought for me by another good friend and there are several different designs...all are quick easy projects.

Blocks and other stuff

Hi All
I've completed some smaller projects since the last time I posted. In between doing quilting, I made some cushion covers but won't be posting them here. This is Rosemary's Christmas block which felt quite weird doing it in almost Springtime. If you look closely you can see Santa through the net curtain and even Rudolph is helping as he leaves his sleigh and goes to put a bauble on the tree.

I've also completed my round of 2 Round Robins but can't post the photos yet as the owners haven't received them back yet but I did get mine back which is lovely and will post a photo of each of the 4 we did, at a later date.

Work is as ever, extremely busy but I've got plenty of other things on the go to keep me sane.

Town & Country wallhanging

Hi All
I've finally got back into 'my stride' after extended illness and finished the wallhanging for a friend who has moved house. It measures 27.5 x 18.5 ins and I just need to add the label which has an Irish blessing of offerings of bread, salt and wine so if she doesn't like it, that's all she'll be walking away with hahahaha! the bread, salt and wine....
Here's the finished item -
Here's hoping it ends up on my wall.....

Underground Railroad Sampler quilt

Hi All
Here is is my 3rd block of the Underground Railroad Sampler quilt. It came out with slightly wonky spokes but I'm guessing that in the 1800's, the wheels weren't always perfect so I'm happy with it.

This is called the Wagon Wheel.

Here is J's Friendship Swap block - theme Leaves

I've done a row-by-row and a 17x17 inch block for another Round Robin group but I can't post these photos yet until they have been received....

Daughter's birthday present

Hi All
Well today my baby is 34 years old...but shhhh! I'm not supposed to tell anyone...hahaha.
I bought her presents some weeks ago but couldn't go empty-handed so I made her some cushions to go with her much loved B&W quilt I made for her last year. And of course it just had to be the Beatles... She is delighted with them as it was a total surprise.
Here they are -

Here is the Row by Row,

and the 2010 Friendship block.
I've only got a few days to finish a present for someone then I can relax.......yipeeeeee!

Here's what I've been working on this Easter weekend

Hi All
This Easter weekend I've made a set of Storage bags from the Feb 2010 issue of PP magazine. I made these as a gift for a friend who loved the fabrics and I've varied the sizes so they can stack away easily into the larger bag.

Hope she likes them when she gets them tomorrow. If not I'll have them myself hahaha!
And a little one for me............

More Swaps....

And yet more news!
I've joined the latest PP swap of 10 inch squares. The theme is B&W with one accent colour and we all sent 12 squares of either Black on White pattern, or White on Black pattern to the co-ordinator Tessa and she swapped them around so we had 12 different patterned squares and returned them to us. They are all lovely fabrics and designs.

I've chosen my accent colour as Lime green Batik fabric and I'm looking forward to starting this soon BUT - I have a friend who I've worked next to for several years and she is leaving at the end of the monthe, so I asked her what she'd like for a present and she chose a Quilt for her 2 cats....she loved my other friend's doggy quilt so much so it wasn't a surprise she chose that!
So a cat quilt it is for Bev...I'm going to miss her when she goes......time's are a'changing at work since we merged with another college and sadly there are casualties but she's not going far and I'm sure I'll see her shopping in my town centre where her new job is.
So I'll be posting the Cat Quilt next I hope, and then my B&W quilt too

I have other little projects to do in the meantime like 2 x Bookmarks for 2 swap friends and other stuff for birthday presents too so I'm busy, busy, busy.....just how I like it!

Christmas Present for TC

And even more....
For Christmas I gave a friend a BOM (Block of the Month) or BOY (....of the year) project.
I've cut out the first block - Shoo-fly, and marked up all quarter inch seam allowances and provided all cotton, needles and pins in custom made pin-cushion.

I also printed out pictorial step-by-step instructions for her to follow, and contained it in a pretty luxury A4 file. She knows she can stop at one block, wall-hanging or continue on at her own pace to complete a sampler quilt, so no pressure there!.

She's up for the challenge so will post her progress as it happens...........................
Watch this space !
